Assignment Taken

Developing a Hiring & Incentive strategy for Human resources working on international expansion to enable a speedy growth.

Case Understanding

Ramalingam Foods is a fast-food restaurant that was established by Mr. Ramalingam Venkatesh in South Bombay in 1965. When his son, Mr. Vijay Ramalingam started to look after the business, he wanted to expand the business territory but the shelf life of wet Idi-Dosa batter was very low. So, he came up with an innovative idea to make a powder form of Idli-Dosa batter. Management Noticed that some people are purchasing their Instant mixes domestically (In India) and selling it in foreign countries through their shops primarily in the Middle East, Southeast Asian countries, and England. Mr. Vijay proposed the idea of expanding the business internationally. Since he doesn’t have any experience of international business, He hired our company as a business consultant for international market expansion. Currently, they don't have the necessary permissions & Licenses for International business. Also, they only have sufficient capital and business acumen to enter more than one foreign. Human Resource Department will play a vital role in providing quality Human Resources for an effective and Smooth process. The company already has roots in India but will need a decent team to operate at the aimed location.

BCS Solution Summary

Human Resources will play an important role in the expansion, hence we need to modify the organizational structure, recruit necessary employees, employee training, and incentives.

Solution

As we expand our business initially in Singapore, we will need to modify the organization structure and recruit new employees as per the requirement.

Organizational Structure:

Depending on the size of the business, the organization structure should be followed in general. It is ideal to adopt a matrix organization structure for this organization, which is a blend of the project and functional organization structures.

We propose that the HR and R&D departments remain under the direct responsibility of the CEO, based on the suggested new organizational structure. These departments must be kept centralized since they follow the organization's regular procedures and regulations.

Furthermore, we have divided the structure into two branches, India, and Singapore, based on their geographical locations. These departments will be represented by a Country Head and report directly to the CEO. It enables the organization to function smoothly despite different geographical positions and cultures.

Recruitments:

We will be adding a Marketing team, supply chain, and quality assurance team, and IT team who will directly report to the county head.

Marketing team: Digital marketing team (3 Experienced professionals + 4 Interns), 2 Logistic Managers, 2 Product marketing managers, 4 associate managers, Content Writers (2 Experienced Professionals + 3 Interns), Graphic Designers (2 Experienced Professionals + 3 Interns), and Market Research analysts (2 Experienced Professionals + 5 Interns)

Supply Chain/Quality Assurance team:  2 Warehouse Managers, 8 Warehouse Work Force.

IT team: 1 Team lead, 2 Developers, and 2 Testers.

Employee Training:

To ensure proper and optimal company conduct, we will undertake a 15-day training program for newly appointed personnel in the supply chain, marketing, and technical improvements.

Incentives:

  1. Salary + Medical insurance + 20% performance-based annual bonus.
  2. Employees would be able to work remotely and have flexible hours.
Conclusion
We will ensure that we have a talented team to conduct business in Singapore and deliver smooth support to existing and new clients through the HR Department. We plan to extend the firm in Malaysia and Indonesia if Singapore proves to be a success.
