Case Understanding

The new start-up company in its initial stage is looking into venturing in the emerging market of electric vehicles. Since, these electric vehicles assure certain enhancements in the environmental conditions, the company has moved in the right direction, where potential profits and future lies. However, setting up a new company with a handful of employees need extreme amount of accuracy. Large scale losses in the initial phase can step towards to the downfall of the company. With the prototype available, design enhancements, USP’s and updating the model regularly on customer demand remains a major technical challenge. Customer demand forecasting, sales analysis, competitor analysis, each of these segments will involve humongous data and storing, making sense out of it and analysing the same will remain major tasks in hand. All these analytics are important as during the initial phase, we can not afford wastage. Customer feedback and updates will be regular, making it inevitable for us to keep a track of everything. Also, since this is an entirely new concept, nearest charging stations and service stations data needs to be recorded as well as shared with the customers as per their locations and preferences. As we gradually move towards expanding our services in the coming years, we would require more employees. The challenges involved would increase as the feedback and technologies applied in one kind of vehicle may not apply to our further prototype.

BCS Solution Summary

By developing all the technical aspects from scratch, we plan on adding features that act as our USP, going ahead to get the customer data from existing market players. We then come up with an android application that serves multiple purposes of security and other necessities.

Solution

Since, we are going ahead with the two-wheeler model first, we would investigate adding enhancements to the prototype. The prototype can be incorporated with an Artificial Intelligence display that would be connected to the android app of the user. This display would provide GPS services, data about nearest charging stations and time to time servicing alarms. With a single click, the customer can also notify a problem to the nearest service provider and book a viable slot for the same. An additional backup battery with a minimalistic charge would be attached. Mobile charging points would also be made available. A waterproof shielding will be available, so that the electric appliances, sensors and digital models aren’t affected.

For the quantity of production, we would have to check the rise in sales of other similar vehicles available in the market in the past few years. Like, Ola has started two- wheeler electric vehicle services, we can check the number of bookings, if the customers are regular or it’s an occasional job. To get this data, we could collaborate with Ola and promise our first batch of supply to them, demanding only 5% of the profit share of the ride. This would also help us get access to customer feedback and the problems they are facing with current electric vehicles.

With our start by supplying to a specific company, we will be able to analyse customer demand and then we can gradually approach more similar companies.

After a few months of understanding the customer behaviour from the data gathered, we will be able to put our product for sale for individuals targeting them according to geography and preferences.

We would work on a mobile application named Vector, that would enable the customer to secure the vehicle with their phones, track the charging available and also have the location access to the vehicle. If any sensor or any digital appliance malfunctions, the error notification would be shown. The customer can notify this to the nearest service provider and also book an appointment to get it rectified. Using the chatbot feature, the customer will be able to connect to the company, and we would be able to understand their requirements and solve the problems immediately. Charging station locations, emergency and accident associated helps will be available that will automatically get enabled if multiple parts of the Electric vehicle fail. Otherwise, this option with emergency dials will be available on the two-wheeler display to notify the respective authorities in case any. The app will regularly get updated. To ensure safety and security, only a few family members of the buyer will be given access to the vehicle. With fingerprint, voice check, and password protection, we would ensure that no unauthorized person accesses the vehicle. In case, that happens, the circuit switch will remain locked, hence not starting the vehicle.

As new employees, suppliers, auditors, and investors join, a separate data about each of the members would be maintained. This would enable smoothness in the working process.

Conclusion
Since, technology comes handy in all walks of life, the solution we aim is to aid all the departments of marketing, operations, human resources, and finances. By managing all these databases, the IT department will have a dashboard or a library, to analyze the market and the company situation. Also, working on the product management aspects and understanding customer needs while focussing on customer satisfaction, will require a huge role of technology. Keeping all these points in mind, our mobile application, two-wheeler digital dashboard, vehicle security and connecting to immediate help has been our goal and focus of our department.
