Case UnderstandingThe company is a service driven company that is planning to transition from a courier service to an Airway Delivery Service. The company has decided to venture into Hyper Local Delivery space; i.e.; to provide drone delivery services locally. Initially the company is focusing to deliver the services only through Short Range Drones because the cost pertaining to the Short-Range Drones are more suitable as compared to the Long-Range Drones. Company has performed testing only for Business-to-Business firms like food delivery companies, Pharma Chains and Internal Local Companies. The company also wants to explore more business areas for cost-effective cargo deliveries. The company received positive feedback from the users after the trials. Drone Delivery Services was successful in delivering services. Therefore, as directed by the Board Members, the company needs to work on adding value to end customers. The Board Members have set the goal for the company which are: • to achieve breakeven within the first year of the operations • to become market leader in Innovation • brand establishment Challenges for Human Resource Department: The concept of Drone Delivery System is relatively new in the market. Since the concept of drone delivery system is relatively new in the Indian market and the concept is still fresh and new therefore there is a huge scope for the company to grow and expand in terms of delivering services to the customers. This expansion can then be followed by expansion in geographical areas as well. Therefore, this will lead to diversity in culture and more requirement of workforce for the smooth running and functioning of the company. Therefore, some challenges that the HR Department will go through are changes in the rules and regulations within the organization, hiring of more employees and employee training according to the requirement of the department and the company.
BCS Solution SummarySince the company has decided to venture into drone delivery system, it is important to come up with excellent manpower to support the new service. The management teams that into existence during the road Delivery Services were: Finance and Accounting Department Marketing Department Human Resources Department IT Department Supply Chain and Logistics Department After the introduction of the drone delivery system, Supply Chain and Logistics Department has been renamed as Drones Operations Management with some few changes in the Department. Therefore the existing Management team now comprises of: Finance and Accounting Department Marketing Department Human Resources Department IT Department Drones Operations Department The new job positions in the Department are: Drones Operations Manager - 1 Drone Pilot - 8 Drone Engineers - 4 There is one more job position open in the IT department: Legal Counsel – 1 The recruitment for the above-mentioned Job Positions will be done through external Recruitment. External Recruitment is the suitable for these job positions because the company requires certified, highly skilled candidates who have prior experiences with drone technology. This requirement will not be fulfilled through internal requirements.
Solution

While preparing for the solutions for the case study, the following management principles have been taken into consideration:
1. Division of Work - The work has been segregated into different departments for increased, productivity and efficiency. Since drone operations department is a new department therefore a thorough job analysis has been done to come up with relevant job positions within the department. 
2. Authority and Responsibility - Each and every manager will have the authority to hire and fire the employees for increased productivity but this authority will be shared with the Human Resources Department as well. The respective management teams will be responsible for all any any kind of actions that will be practiced in the department.
3. Discipline - The employees need to maintain discipline within the department during the workhours. Training Module have been created for the repective candidates for them to follow and adhere to. The respective schedules have been made for them to maintain peace and order in the workplace for a healthy environment.
4. Unity of Command - The respective departments will have to report to their respective department heads. Any and every reporting that has not been communicated with the Department Head will be considered invalid. 
5. Unity of Direction - The company has predefined goals; therefore, the employees are required to align with the respective goals. During recruitment, only those candidates will be hired who share the common goal with the company for growth and development for both ends. Job Description has been prepared for the job positions by aligning with the goals that the Board of Directors have set.
6. Centralisation - The company will follow hierarchal level of power within the organisation. The top level management has the authority to take decisions. 
7. Equity - All th employees within the organisation will be treated equally and there will be no discrimination among the employees. While preparing the Job Description and Training Module, steps have been taken to avoid any kind of discrimination.
8. Stability - The company is prepared to reward the trainees with job security on the basis of point system that will be provided to the trainees after evaluation at the end of training period. This will be effective for a period of 6 months. After 6 months the trainees will be evaluated on the basis of their job performance.
