Focussing on key areas Ranges from
1. Line of Business Expansion

MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE - Look Beyond Traditional Rural Businesses
SELCO has been focussing on day to day usage product for rural areas focussing on product based business strategy, There lies a great potential in expanding the current business strategy to develop multiple business options for Rural India

  1. Solar Powered Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) : Fixed wireless internet is a popular option in rural or remote areas where traditional wired connections are not feasible. This type of internet connection can deliver speeds of up to 25 Mbps. As rural India is 44% ahead in internet consumption, tapping on this unused business potential can be a real game changer.

2. Product Line Expansion

MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE - Addressing Modern Rural India IT Based Needs
Traditionally rural areas have always been linked to catering the basic needs of their lives, earning and contributing minimalistically in almost all areas barring the agriculture area. With advent of Digital India and high booming rural literacy rate, its important to understand SELCO needs to grow on products offering from the existing set which primarily includes traditional house hold devices like solar powered : sewing machines, brick making, hair cutting machines etc.
Some of the Key Products can be

  • Solar Powered Mobile/Tablet Charger : With advent of Internet and mobile phones, solar powered chargers can be a great product expansion. As Indian rural areas holds 85 million of the mobile phone users and considering the fact that mobile manufacturing companies have stopped providing chargers with mobiles, solar mobile can help to increase the revenue, It can give a serious competition to existing power banks as well if it can be made equally reliable as them, moreover solar powered chargers require minimal maintenance and has even greater longevity. Solar Powered Wifi Capability.
  • Solar Powered Wifi Boosters and Routers: Solar Powered Wifi Boosters and Routers can not only be a great solution to rural india but to semi-urban areas as well. With FWA Internet Access Wifi Boosters is a product which can significantly increase the revenue of SELCO.

SELCO can take up the initiative to get build these solar powered medical devices, which not only can cater the rural india but can be game changer for urban india.

Plan is to target rural indian needs but at the same time consider the fact that rural india is no more a traditional rural india anymore and it has been turning into sem-urban areas and so building semi-urban products can be a gateway to urban cities expansion as well.

3. Sales Network Expansion

  • Leverage E-Commerce : This specific strategy targets the semi-urban areas, where products can be listed on e-commerce websites like amazon, flipkart etc to gain more visibility at the same time SELCO can create a direct B2C channel to offer its products via home page.
Bonus Strategy over this : The above solution (B2C Direct Channel) requires an expenditure of Supply Chain Expenses and for this SELCO can come up with an transportation products like Solar Powerde E Bikes, offered to these SCM companies, by this SELCO can expand and tie up with multiple business as well.
  • Leverage Social Media Advertising : No better distributor than social media at present, the Instagram, Facebook and Youtube Ads can play a significant role in creating awareness of the products offered by SELCO as rural india has been constituting a big share in social media consumption specifically youtube and instagram reels.

MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE - Virtual Presence and AI Based Expansion

As opposed to traditional Physical Energy Service Centers Expansion, its important to leverage IT and being present virtually in every possible arena of business serving, This can not only save the expenditure cost but also can help to reach to larger masses.

  • CRM Based Solution : Customer Relationship Management Solution involve creating two Application a) One for Customer b) One for Technician. With Technicians automatically assigned an issue logged by the customer in rural area, this can help to accelerate mitigating of issues pertaining to defect in any product. App shall be created in a language suiting the demography for instance Kannada Based Language App for Karnataka people. Moreover Customers can be provided with already installed solution guides in their apps to resolve there issues on their own.
  • AI Powered IVR Based Solution : This can be really handy in case of Customer wants to have audio based solution. Rather than typing on dial pad for issues, customers can speak up the issue on phone call and IVR can segregate the issue using AI and offer an audio based solution, Moreover it can have capability to connect to Energy Service Center as well.
  • Leverage Solar Powerd Business Offering as Energy Stations : When building a one stop solution for a single rural community like Solar Powered Charging Station for E-Vehicles, these can itself be utilize to operate as Energy Service Center as well, This can not only help in expansion to rural areas but to urban areas as well.

5. Finance Based Solution

MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE - Hassle Free KYC to Accelerate Financing

Its important to understand that the people are able to get easy financing without any hassle and least amount of paper work and IT can easily come into play, With Single Sign On Digilocker Access, all important document pertaining to a customer can be fetched, moreover processes like KYC can be easily accelerated by leveraging the fact that Aadhar card, PAN Card all are linked and thus with single identification number, a customer can be authenticated and provided an easy financing Loan or solution

Conclusion
This multifaceted strategy is not only a response to the changing landscape of rural India but also an anticipation of its future trajectory. The ongoing transformation of rural regions into semi-urban areas signifies a monumental shift in the socio-economic fabric of the country. The increased penetration of Information Technology has acted as a catalyst, propelling these areas into the digital age. Consequently, the residents of these regions are no longer confined by geographical boundaries, and their aspirations and needs now align more closely with their urban counterparts.
